Summercliffe Chalet Park

The perfect place to stay!

Summercliffe chalet park is nestled in the valley that leads down to Caswell Bay Beach, on Gower. Surrounded by Bishopswood, an area of outstanding natural beauty, which is wonderful to walk through, especially for that morning, or evening stroll or dog walk.

A few minutes stroll down the road, and you find yourself on the stunning Caswell Beach, with its expanse of sand, rock pools, surf, and a beach cafes, which does great coffee, and hot chocolate.

The park is unique, from the minute you arrive you feel yourself begin to unwind. Everyone who visits mentions that there is something, very relaxing, peaceful about the place. You can leave the problems and bustle of the world behind. Time stops for a while.

The tradition style of the chalets contributes to this, and all of the chalet owners work together to keep try to keep this magical ‘feeling’. This is not a commercial park, the chalets are all owned privately, some visited just by their owners, whilst others are rented for short holiday breaks. This creates a lovely atmosphere within the park. Do not visit expecting a clubhouse, or play parks, this is a place to relax, after a days exploring, of playing on the beach. For watching the sun go down with a glass of wine.

Originally a campsite, the chalets were built in the 1970s and many of the chalets have been handed down through families. There is a charm which has been lost by many of the commercial sites, but do not dismiss this as ‘old fashioned’….it is magical ….and we love sharing it with people.

We Own two chalets within the park. Number Chalet 38, is a semi detached on the top right corner of the central lawn. Families enjoy this spot as the chalet opens onto the central grass lawn. You can sip gin, and watch the kids play as the sun sets. This chalet gets the last of the evenings sun, and is a versatile little chalet, which has a shared parking spot close by.

Chalet 4, is detached and not too far away on the left hand side of the park. This chalet has the advantage of it’s own parking space alongside the chalet. It also has it’s own lawn at the back, space to to sit and gather with family and friends, or for the children to play. There is a picnic table set against the back wall and plenty of space to spread out.

The two chalets are not too far from each other so if you wanted to rent both as a family group, you are not miles from each other.

If you want a location to explore the area, Summercliffe is perfectly placeed, close to the coast path, and few minutes car ride from the seaside village of Mumbles, with its cafes, and traditional shops. The rest of Gower is easily reached by car, and if you want to explore Swansea, with its old style market, and museums then it is about 15 minutes away. There is also a bus stop close to the park if you want to leave your car behind.

Dogs are allowed on site, although as their are children around we ask they are kept on a lead at all times, and naturally any mess must be picked up. There are lots of lovely dogs walks in the surrounding woods, as well as the coast path, but please note Caswell bay does not allow dogs on during the summer seasons. If you want a dog friendly beach then visit Pulldu and Brandy cove, the next two beaches around on the coast path. If you want to come for a beach holiday with your dog thing about a break in March/April or Oct when the dogs are allowed to run free on the wonderful expanse of Caswell Bay
