Caswell Beach

Caswell Bay, Gower, is three minutes stroll away. A stunning beach, in any season!

High summer it offers a child friendly expanse of sand, pools, rock pools and shallow waters. Perfect with the life-guards for paddling and swimming, or trying body boarding or surfing.

There are a couple of surf schools that base themselves at the beach if you want to learn.

Summer ……During the summer May 1st to Sept 30th the beach is for families and the council do not allow dogs on the Caswell Bay beach, family’s can spread out, build sand castles and paddle, swim, picnic. You often find people still on the beach having an evening barbecues, as the tide roll in. Wine and laughter.

There are three cafes on the small beach front. Closest to the beach is Surfside Cafe, which does great coffee, hot chocolate, breakfast, and sandwiches. Dogs are allowed inside the cafe, and I have spent many happy hours sat looking out at the weather, chatting with friends. The second cafe, does fish and chips, quality ice-cream, drinks, and the roadside one is much more of a traditional beach shop, where buckets and spades sit next to ice-creams, burgers and rock.

Autumn, Winter, Spring.

These are my favorite months on the beach, dogs and people are allowed to run free, chase balls and frisbies, chatter. The 1st Oct is always a day of celebration for us the dog walkers, the cafe often has some kind of event, and there are many many dogs running around.

Caswell is stunning through the winter, the sky and light are amazing, if you want that beach sunset, or walk on a nearly empty expanse of sand, this is the time to come.
